Your move, Secretary Clinton

New York - Today, the anti-corruption electoral campaign MAYDAY.US, released this statement in response to Bernie Sanders’ call for citizen-funded elections.

“Voters desperately thirst for revolution against the current machine, not just policy. Candidates like Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump are making waves because they are showing a willingness to focus on the need for a shift away from ‘politics as usual’.

We are thrilled to see Sen. Sanders’ commitment to ‘Fight for a publicly financed, transparent system of campaign financing that amplifies small donations…’ His support of citizen-funded elections is one more victory in the movement to end big money corruption.

Hillary Clinton has some corruption problems. And this is a corruption election. During the last debate she was completely silent on the issue. To show she’s serious, she needs to be clear and firm in her commitment to end big money corruption

MAYDAY.US’s message to the Clinton campaign: “Citizens United” is not just an applause line. Secretary Clinton’s support for publicly financed elections occurred on one day, two months ago, and this section of her platform has since gone stale and untended.

Recently, we saw huge victories across the country – from Maine to Seattle – where voters made clear they wanted citizen-funded elections. Still, Clinton remained silent.

On Saturday, Hillary Clinton has an opportunity to seize an issue about which 84% of Americans agree: ending the dominance of big money in politics.
